Galvanized is raw zinc-coated steel, industrial look, lasts 15–25 years. Vinyl-coated has a PVC sleeve over the wire, more residential appearance, also better near the coast (salt doesn't reach the steel). Vinyl-coated costs 15–25% more and lasts longer in coastal zones.
