What do homeowners ask about Pool Fence?

What does California pool fence code require?

Title 24 requires a barrier at least 60 inches high with no openings larger than 4 inches. Gates must be self-closing, self-latching, and open outward (away from the pool) with the latch release at least 60 inches above grade. The bottom of the fence can't be more than 2 inches off the ground. Pool alarms may substitute for fence components in some configurations.

Mesh vs glass vs aluminum pool fence, which is best?

Removable mesh ($22–$32/linear foot) is the fastest and cheapest compliant option, visible but low-key. Ornamental aluminum ($45–$75/linear foot) is the most common permanent option, 20+ year life, low maintenance. Frameless glass ($95–$175/linear foot) is premium, unobstructed view, best for view lots.

Do pool fence requirements apply to existing pools?

Yes, when the property changes hands. Home inspectors and insurance carriers flag non-compliant pool barriers at sale and renewal. Some jurisdictions grandfather existing fences until they're modified. We assess and advise before quoting.

Can I install a pool fence myself?

Removable mesh pool fence kits are DIY-possible but the code details (gate hardware, latch height, spacing) are where most fail inspection. Insurance and resale verification are smoother when a licensed installer documented the install. We inspect any DIY install for code issues before a home sale.

Got three quotes for a new cedar fence. Fence Pros was the only company that actually walked the whole line, pulled the HOA spec, and showed me a stain sample before quoting. Clean crew, clean jobsite, beautiful finish.

Cedar Privacy Fence Install Carlsbad

Our 12-year-old fence was leaning bad and I thought we needed a full replacement. They installed steel post inserts on six posts, saved the panels, and the fence looks great for another decade. Saved me thousands.

Fence Post Repair El Cajon

Needed a code-compliant pool fence before our home sale. They came out same-week, quoted honestly, and installed glass panel fencing that passed inspection on the first try. Handled everything, measurement, hardware, final walk-through.
